Evaluation

Overall I’ve found this module very different from my a-levels and skills comfort zone. I’ve found the skills very helpful and I’m sure I will use them next uni year.
I had never used adobe indesign before and now I feel comfortable to create a fashion article using that software.
My favourite project was the photography project, fashion one module helped a lot. The short time was a challenge however I’m sure it will only ensure a example of a real situation with a small time span.

FINAL FINISHED ARTICLE-

I’m happy with the overall look, it is high quality, finished and the outfits look very french connection. The writing gives it a Love magazine feel with fun.

LOCATION- we were lucky with the location as it was at Storthes Hall Park were a few of of us lived. The sun also meant we needn’t bother with lighting as the weather was perfect guaranteeing us the natural lighting we wanted for our shoot.

GIVEN BRIEF:

We we’re put into groups according to the register. My group consists of Megan Ellaby, Emily Jacques, Sasha Jones, Lizi Legge and Natalie Kelly. We were given a label, magazine and photographer to create a four page editorial in the style of.

Label: FRENCH CONNECTION

Magazine: LOVE MAGAZINE

Photographer: DAVID LA CHAPPELE

We decided to change our photographer to Fabien Baron his softer photography suits our label and has previously shot for them. David La Chapelle uses religious iconography and vivid images that may be right for the Love magazine and Vivienne Westwood or D&G labels but not French Connection who are synonymous with classic, kooky, soft images.

Models: Megan Ellaby and William Stead. Location: Storthes Hall Park We have chosen this location due to looking at existing back drops and seeing the ‘natural’ backdrop which compliment the classic clothes french connection offer. Styling: classic items, neutral, stripes, blouses, shirts

I think the idea of mixing luxury and mass-market fashion is very modern - wearing head-to-toe designer has become a bit passe. It’s a new era in fashion - there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together.
